Friends of Robles Ranch History

Robles Ranch was owned by Bernabe Robles, who came to Tucson in 1864. By 1880, he operated a stage and freight line from Tucson to Quijotoa. The original Robles Ranch was built in 1882 and served as the headquarters for the stage station and ranch house. Over the years, the ranch changed hands, and in 1995, the current owners were arrested for trafficking drugs, and the property was seized.   A community member, Marion Whitfiield, saw an opportunity to try to acquire the property for a Community Center. Nearly 200 residents signed a petition supporting her efforts. In 1996, Supervisor Sharon Bronson announced at a community meeting that Pima County had completed the acquisition of the ranch for the use of the Three Points Community as a Community Center. The Friends of Robles Ranch was formed to assist the Center and address some of the community's needs. The group acquired various grants and recruited several volunteers to help with landscaping and installing irrigation for the beautification of the property.  A small metal building was put in place, and an awning was built, painted, and fitted to be a Food Pantry. A small resale store was opened on the property to help fund some of the projects for Friends of Robles Ranch to utilize within the community.

We are thankful for great leaders, family, and friends who have paved the way and helped build our foundation.
